FCHS Staff Spotlight: Mr. Alex Lange
April 24, 2023
SOCIAL STUDIES DEPT.
MR. ALEX LANGE
Mr. Alex Lange became part of the FCHS staff this year as a replacement for Ms. O’Brien. Although Mr. Lange is a new addition to Fillmore Central in terms of staff, he actually attended Fillmore Central as a high school student. He explained “I really enjoyed my time at Fillmore as a student, It’s been a lot of fun being back home.”
After his experience in high school, Mr. Lange went to the University of Northern Iowa to pursue a career as a band teacher. It was not long, however, before he switched directions during his first year in college. Mr. Lange explained “I didn’t like it as much as I thought, and I wanted to still teach, and my favorite subject is social studies, and here we are.” Mr. Lange attended the University of Northern Iowa for only two years before he transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse to complete his degree in Broadfield Social Studies. Now a new social studies teacher at Fillmore Central, Mr. Lange is also the Junior High Boys Basketball coach, and even the 8th grade class advisor.
Besides teaching, Mr. Lange likes to spend his free time fishing, basketball, farming, golf, and spending time with his family.
Although Mr. Lange had intentions to pursue music education in college, he couldn’t resist his passion for social studies. Concluding his interview, Mr. Lange mentions this piece of advice: “do your best to make your high school years count.” Fillmore Central High School is happy to have Mr. Lange as a member of its staff.
