An Art Trip to Rochester!
April 26, 2023
On Saturday, April 22nd, some Fillmore Central students along with art teacher Ms. Samantha Bratland took a trip up to Century High School in Rochester, Minnesota, to be a part of the 2023 MSHSL Section Art Show. These participating students included Adrik Nevalainen, Olivia Sethre, Maddy Bergey, Katie Whelan, Maggie Dempewolf, and Siri Corson.
The school van left Harmony bright and early at 6 A.M. in the morning. Then, they stopped in Preston to pick up the rest of the art crew before heading up. Once they got there, registration began, and the artwork started to get set up. Judging took place over the next two and a half hours. After a quick lunch break, the students got an opportunity to interact with members from the public, judges, and other participating high school students. To wrap up the day, students got to pick up their artwork along with their certificates. Everybody’s pieces earned either an excellent rating or above; the two who earned superior ratings were Madelyn Bergey and Adrik Nevalainen.
Overall, the MSHSL Section Art Show was a success for those involved. After a few years of it being a virtual event due to the pandemic, people were glad to see this high school fine arts opportunity happen in person this year.
Congratulations to all the artists from Fillmore Central who had artwork selected to be judged and shown to the public at this statewide event. Here’s to keeping fine arts alive and well in the school, community, and world!
