Nostalgia Hits With Tiana: Gravity Falls

Gravity Falls

Tiana Pickett-Hanson, Staff Writer

“Nostalgia Hits” is where I’ll write about old shows and movies that were once beloved, but have been forgotten over the years. I’ll be bringing back nostalgic memories as you read about some of your old favorites from your childhood, or introducing you to older shows that you may have never even heard of before. For the third “Nostalgia Hit” I’ll be writing about Gravity Falls

Released in 2012, Gravity Falls ran for 2 seasons over 4 years. Gravity Falls is a show that follows two siblings Dipper and Mabel Pines who have been sent to Oregon to live with their great-uncle Stan. They have to stay in the small community of Gravity Falls, and they end up working at their uncle’s tourist-trap shop, the Mystery Shack.

Throughout the show Mabel and Dipper make new friends, including the store handy man Soos and the store clerk Wendy. Mabel also befriends some local kids named Candy and Grenda. Dipper finds a mysterious journal describing weird things that have happened around the area. As Dipper uncovers the secrets of the journal, his friends and him fight off evil entities. As the show goes on, the group fights off more and more monsters and discover more clues about the mysteries of Gravity Falls.

The characters in this show are such good characters; they are likable all while having realistic flaws. They also all face challenges that either change them for the better or for the worst. The cast includes Jason Ritter, who plays Dipper Pines, Kristen Schaal, who plays Mabel Pines, Alex Hirsch, who plays Grunkle Stan, and Linda Cardellini.

Overall, it was a really good Disney show for around the time it was released. It became very popular among all sorts of people. This show has a lot of very good artistic visuals and a very unique vibe about it. I would definitely recommend this show to anyone, but especially to people who like shows that are different. I would say that you should at least watch one episode of Gravity Falls in your life.
