In this article, I would like to go over a few tips that I use to stay motivated. I know how hard it can be to keep at a goal, which is why I would like to provide any help I can.

If you have a specific goal, my biggest tip is to make sure you are doing it for yourself. There is absolutely no point in trying to complete a goal you yourself don’t have the motivation to complete. Once you have a set goal, no matter how minuscule, write it down. Personally, I write any goals on my calendar. Wherever you choose to write it, make sure its in a place where you will see it everyday. If you take even just a glance everyday, it will remind you to stay motivated. Be sure to include all the steps it will take to reach that goal.

Another simple thing I use to stay motivated is the 1,2,3 method. If I really need to do something, but I’m feeling lazy, I just say 1,2,3, go. On go, I get up and do what I need to do. Every time, it works like a charm.

Another method is journaling, which takes a bit more effort. It doesn’t have to be a physical journal, you can just write down a brief description of your day in a notes app. I’ve been using this method for just over 4 months now, and it has certainly helped. There is something beneficial in writing down my thoughts and reminding myself of why I am trying to reach specific goals.

The next tip I have is to not be so hard on yourself. Don’t set ridiculous goals for yourself right away. Keep things gradual, and work at your own pace. Be loving of yourself, even if you don’t feel you are hitting the goals you want to right away. Forgiveness is key.

The last tip I have is having trusted friends to keep you motivated. I’ll be honest, if I didn’t have the loyal friends I have now, my motivation would’ve been gone a LONG time ago.

These are the main steps I used to stay motivated. Keep in mind, not everything that worked for me will work for you. I hope at least one of the tips I provided can be of help to someone struggling out there.
