Living on Your Own

Why it can be fun and why I have such a crippling fear of it

There is such a sense of independence when living on your own. Whether it be in college or after college, living on your own can be rather great to gain your independence and help us really be able to focus on ourselves.

Now, being the young person that I am, I happen to have a fear of living alone. Although sometimes I do believe that I could manage to live on my own. I think it would be good for me to have my own place where I can have my own place and my own rules. But for me, it is more so the sense that something terribly wrong could happen and I would have nobody there. And even though I am an introvert and like my alone time, I feel as though I would get terribly lonely.

But when all these fears come at me I do like to remember that I am not the only one with this fear. I also like to try to glorify what my life could look like living alone so I don’t feel so stuck. I like to think of getting myself a little apartment or a small house with a little farm. I like to think of all the things I would have like my own little reading corner or having my own animals. I like to think of how fun it would be to pick out the room colors and the furniture. I like to picture myself cooking a nice dinner and sitting down on my cozy front porch.

My point is, it’s ok to have these fears as they are completely normal at this age. But living on your own isn’t all as terrible as people think it is. Living on your own can be great for everyone. If we all start making a better light of it we can combat this fear that a lost of people have.
