Last night on Monday, May 8th, the annual spring band concert took place in the Varsity Gym at the high school. There were a total of ten songs performed between both the 7-8th grade band as well as the 9-12th grade band. The seniors were recognized and two awards were given out to two of the seniors.

The 7-8th grade band started off the concert with their four songs. These songs were Chorale from Jupiter, On Wings of Eagles, Cumberland Cross, and Raiders March. The 9-12 band then performed their four songs including American Salute, Affirmation, The Phantom of the Opera, and Drums of the Saamis.

The Louis Armstrong award is awarded to the top senior Jazz Band member and the recipient of this award was Elizabeth Ryan. The John Philip Sousa award is awarded to the top senior band member who has demonstrated leadership. The recipient of this award was Addie Miner. Congratulations to these two band members on receiving these awards.

The senior band members were then recognized; they are Maddy Bergey, Regan Hanson, Oliver Hoeltzle, Emma Illg, Addie Miner, Elizabeth Ryan, Olivia Sethre, Madison Simon, Nate Storlie, Jenna Tieskotter, and Kaylee Whitehill. The concert ended with two combined pieces performed by both bands. These pieces were How To Train Your Dragon and Top Gun

Even though the band concerts are over for the year, the 9-12 band still has a few end of the year performances left. On Saturday, May 20th, the band will be marching in the Trout Days parade; then, on Sunday, May 28th, the band will be playing at commencement starting at 1:30 P.M.
