Viral videos have been going around TikTok of family members getting a scary call. Families are getting a call that one of their relatives are in trouble, whether it be they are kidnapped, in a car accident, or generally in need of help. What the family member doesn’t know is that it isn’t real. It is an AI generator that has the ability to clone the person’s voice and thus makes the voice generator say whatever they it to say. 

Even though our generation has made tremendous accomplishments with technology, there are always cons to the pros. Scammers are becoming smarter with the new technology. The scammers take a video off the internet—it only needs to be a second long—and they are able to use their generator to make up a story and call their family. 

This is why it’s very important to make sure you communicate with your loved ones to tell them where/when you are going places.  Also, make sure that you are being safe and private when on social media, or this could happen to you.
