Does gym help students perform better in all their classes? The answer yes. One in three kids in the United States are overweight, but experts say physical education will help solve this problem. According to the American Heart Association, “Some benefits of have a physical education class is it can relieves stress, anxiety, depression, and anger.” It can also increases muscle strength, help keep weight under control, and help prevent illness and diseases. It can help you live longer, and boost energy level. Having a physical education class can help you sleep more and better.

Exercise is also very good for the brain and is proven to help in learning environments. A recent study found that students in Washington, D.C. who had at least 90 minutes of physical education each week did better on standardized math tests that other students. Aerobic exercise can benefit your performance in thinking tests. According to the CDC, physical activity can have an impact on cognitive skills and attitudes and academic behavior, all of which are important components of improved academic performance. These include enhancing concentration and attention as well as improving classroom behavior. In some cases, more time in physical education leads to improved grades and standardized test scores. Physical education improves executive functioning like increases oxygen flow to the brain and increases brain neurotransmitters. Physical education also increases students’ confidences. Health and fitness is as important to a students enrichments as any other subject in school. Students will exhibit a responsible and personal social behavior that respects self and others in a physical activity setting.
