Are you bored? Do you need something to do? Well, how about picking up a book! I personally recommend one of my favorites, “Six of Crows” by Leigh Bardugo. It is a thrilling story about a group of thieves who try to pull off the ultimate heist. It has everything including action, danger, romance, and a heap of comedy. This book will suck you in and take you on an adventure into another world.
This story takes place in a completely new world where danger is always near, and some people have special abilities. The book starts off on a sketchy, bustling island, home to many thieves and criminals. As Kaz, the leader of one of the gangs, gets word of the ultimate heist with a big cash prize, he starts to assemble his crew. He gathers people with the right skill sets for the job, which totals to be six people. As the crew struggles to complete this heist, each with their own goals in mind, we learn more about each of their pasts and what the money would mean to them. The book takes turns telling the story from the six main characters who are a part of the crew.
“Six of Crows” has so many good qualities. It has a ton of humor that often makes you forget about the seriousness of the situations they are in. It also shows some real life troubles that people go through, and it shows all different walks of life. It’s a little of a mind bender, and it definitely keeps you on your toes. The characters are also amazing, and each have such different personalities. It’s really cool to see all the different points of view and to learn all their stories. Ultimately one of the main reasons that I like this book so much is because even though the crew all come from different backgrounds and have different things they are dealing with, they still manage to work together and look out for one another through all the dangers they face.
I’m also a huge fan of the author Leigh Bardugo. This young adult fantasy writer does such an amazing job with all of her books, and you can definitely see how much work she puts into it. She has created a whole world and has written multiple series in it such as the “Shadow and Bone” trilogy and the “Six of Crows” and “King of Scars” duologies. Her world is known as the Grishaverse. She does a fantastic job of showing a great deal of diversities and cultures just like in the real world. Her books have even been created into a series on Netflix which mixes the “Shadow and Bone” and “Six of Crows” series.
If this book seems like something you would be interested in reading, then please give it a try. Even if it seems a little bit outside what you normally read, I would still recommend giving it a chance. You can find “Six of Crows” and the sequel “Crooked Kingdom” in our high school library. I hope you enjoy reading one!
