Publick Occurrences was the first multi-page newspaper published in colonial America. Richard Pierce printed the newspaper and hired Benjamin Harris as an editor. The newspaper was promptly shut down before the second issue was printed because Pierce did not have a license to publish the newspaper. Publick Occurrences would be the only newspaper until 1704.
