“Klaus” is a Christmas movie that came out in 2019. This has become one of my favorite Christmas movies. It has such a good message, and it has a cool take on the origins of Christmas traditions. It has an interesting focus on the beginnings of the tradition of writing letters to Santa. You can watch it on Netflix. It is a very nice, animated, family, comedy, and adventure movie.

The movie is about a young man named Jesper who is kind of a spoiled, rich kid who doesn’t really do anything. Then his dad, fed up with his attitude, sends him to be a postman on a small, far away island, called Smeerensburg, where he has to deliver so many letters or he will be cut off and end up broke and homeless. The island has a small, dark, and unhappy town which is home to two warring clans who hate each other and are constantly fighting. Over time we see Jesper acquire the partnership of an old toy maker (Klaus), and he gets the children of the town to send him letters asking for toys. Furthermore, we see this spark things in the people of Smeerensburg and changes the whole town. Still, we see Jesper face challenges as he goes against the clan leaders and struggles with his own conscience.

I thought this heartwarming movie had so many good messages, and it really showed what kindness can do.  Klaus’s quote, “A true selfless act always sparks another,” summed up the movie so well. What was incredible was how one good deed led to another, and that it changed a whole town. The movie was well-animated and did a good job showing how different people’s lives can be. I enjoyed how it had a decent amount of comedy in it while also showing powerful messages. I also liked the music in it. There was this really good song, “Invisible” by Zara Larsson. The lyrics fit very nicely with the movie. I really liked the story and all the different characters. They all had such fun and different personalities. It was just in general a great movie. So if you’re looking for a Christmas movie to watch, or just need something to do, then check out “Klaus.”
