MADELYN CARYL BERGEY

Yearbook editor, student director, and a whimsical artist, Madelyn Bergey is truly a gem of the class of 2023. Since the start of her high school career, Bergey has been involved in choir, TNT, photography club, one act play, spring play, and even color guard. Out of her diverse palette of activities, Bergey considers the theater department as one of her favorites. From being costume crew head to now becoming the student director, Bergey found a place to belong. When asked about the Fillmore Central theater department Bergey said: “It has always been a safe space, and I felt honored to hold a position of leadership within that team.”

Besides her bustling life at Fillmore Central, Bergey finds comfort in the simple pleasures of life. Some of Bergey’s downtimes include: embroidering, formulating specific Spotify playlists, going on random day trips, and also “advocating for the people she holds dear” (Bergey).

After graduation, Maddy will be attending St. Olaf in Northfield, Minnesota, to major in Gender and Sexuality Studies with a potential concentration, though she is still undecided about that.

Bergey’s love and commitment to Fillmore Central’s art department will stretch beyond high school. When asked about some advice for the underclassmen, Bergey mentioned this: “It’s good to set expectations for yourself and to be involved, but ultimately, your worth is not determined by your grades. Additionally, it is important to still prioritize yourself regardless of your work load for school.”

Madelyn Bergey will always be a gem to remember.

“Beautiful.”
